First Sneak Peek of The Hospital Artwork

Producers with Deviant Pictures (Jim O’Rear, Daniel Emery Taylor, and Tommy Golden) released this sneak peek of the poster artwork for their highly anticipated new film, THE HOSPITAL today. The poster was created by renowned horror artist Billy Tackett and provides a glimpse of the madness yet to come.

THE HOSPITAL, featuring John Dugan (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), Jim O’Rear (THE DEAD MATTER), Daniel Emery Taylor (RETURN OF THE SWAMP THING), Scott Tepperman (GHOST HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL), April Burril (CHAINSAW SALLY), and Jason Crowe (DEAD MOON RISING) was filmed in actual, undisclosed haunted locations and mixes themes from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hostel, Saw, and Paranormal Activity to bring to the screen what Tony Todd (CANDYMAN) says is, “the sickest shit since Rosemary’s Baby.”

The story is this… Old St. Leopold’s Hospital has many urban legends surrounding it, but the residents of Bridgeport all agree on one thing: tortured souls roam its abandoned halls. The mystery proves too much for a pretty young student who decides to investigate for her senior class project. Unfortunately, she does not find ghosts. She, instead, finds Stanley… serial rapist, murderer, and psychopath. As the young girl becomes Stanley’s new pet, a team of young investigators descend on the hospital to “hunt some ghosts.” Stanley sees nothing but fun and games in his future. But, what Stanley does not know is that the hospital truly is haunted and the restless spirits there are not happy with what he has been doing.

Test screenings of the film begin in February with its international premiere scheduled for Germany in March.

The Victim 2011 - REVIEW

Michael Biehn in his directorial debut with an action/suspense movie packed with twists, turns and alot of nudity.  A movie that was put together rather quickly.  The script was written in just 3 weeks while the filming only lasted all of 11 days.  Pretty impressive for it being Biehn's first movie and all.  A rushed movie is usually not a good thing but in this case it did not hurt in the least.

Mary (Danielle Harris) is having sex with Harrison (Ryan Honey) and is seemingly enthused about it.  When she gets a little smart with him he gets a little rough with her and accidentally breaks her neck.  This sends Mary's friend Annie (Jennifer Blanc) running through the woods hoping to find someone to help her escape.  She comes across a cabin in the middle of the woods and desperately bangs on the door trying to get someone to let her in.  The owner of the cabin is Kyle (Michael Biehn).  He lives a lonely life in the woods and does not want any trouble but very reluctantly opens the door to let her in.  She explains that her and her friend Mary were partying in the woods with 2 cops when Harrison killed her friend.  Now Kyle is involved with what he does not want to be involved in but little by little she earns his trust and he wants to help her.  Kyle is no stranger to law enforcement and knows how to take care of himself around cops.  With the deck stacked against them they are trying to defeat all odds and prove that a cop is guilty of murder.

I was rather impressed with what they did with this movie.  The story and the script were well written.  I enjoyed the movie from the beginning till the end.  The production quality seems a little cheap at times, but then again this is not a Hollywood blockbuster release.  If you rank this in the pile of direct to video movies that come out every year I would put this right at the top.  The performance of Michael, Danielle and Jennifer are fantastic.  I thought Michael did a tremendous job of playing the part that he did.  It's a side of him in acting that I have never seen before.  A dark, creepy character and yet he is also very vulnerable at times.  The one thing that I was not expecting was all the nudity that is in the movie.  While I am not complaining in the least, it was just unexpected.

All in all I really enjoyed watching The Victim.  I really did not know what to expect when I picked this up at Best Buy the day it came out.  I knew it was coming out soon and they had just had the premiere in Hollywood the night before Michael and Jennifer made their appearance at Horrorhound a few weeks ago.  I went all out and got the Blu Ray version which looked pretty good, not great.  Since I purchased this 2 weeks ago I have watched it 2 times.  I usually do not watch a movie more than once in that short of time but this one deserved another look.  The gritty, sleazy look that this movie has is unmistakable and makes one hell of a movie for Michael's first film in the directors chair.  I'm looking forward to more movies put out by him in the future.

The Tentacle's Claw 2012 - REVIEW

I was never much into the 50's style Scifi films. Maybe it just wasn't my era or maybe it was just that I'd already been spoiled by the advancements in the film industry, I don't know. But I have seen many of them, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Blob, Godzilla, etc. and I always found them interesting and entertaining but not really something that I'd go back and watch over and over.

The Tentacle's Claw is the story of one man's quest to use the power of mind control to take over the world, and the one woman who could stop him. Dr. Demonious Horlack (Jim Parsons) has set up his laboratory of horrors in a quiet, seaside town. The former Nazi scientist has devised a way to control simple creatures using the power of the mind. With the help of his assistant Gunda (Geri Lynn Mackey), he has gained power over a giant cephalopod, and is using the creature as his personal assassin. Fortunately for the people of the planet, there is a schoolteacher, Marie LeMay (Tara Manuel), living in the same town. As the traumatic tentacle attacks start to take their gruesome toll, Marie begins to unlock innate, psychic abilities. Her brain scientist boyfriend, Professor Dick Goodwin (Mark Smallwood), helps her recognize the potential she has deep within the recesses of her mind. The stage is set for an epic, psychic showdown. But can she prevail...

I'm not sure what director Michael Rigler (who was also the writer) told his cast before shooting but it must've been something along the lines of "Have you ever seen the old school, tongue-in-cheek, B-movie style creature features? I want that but waaaaaaay over the top!" Why do I think this? Because every single actor in this film played it that way. It was fantastic! All the over the top facial expressions and raised eyebrows. The long drawn out dramatic pauses. Manuel nailed her part of the damsel in distressed turned would be heroine. Parsons was insanely funny, especially in the delivery of lines like "Your dick can't hear you." Bahahahaha! I caught myself laughing out loud on several occasions. Smallwood was great as well. He had that classic role of the sensitive yet chauvinistic wanna save the day man and played it very well. I was surprised when I went over to the IMDb page and saw that this is a first film for a lot of the players involved. So, my hats off to you.

What I really liked most about this one is that it never in any way shape or form took itself seriously. Rigler did exactly what he intended to do and that was to respectfully poke fun at the creature features of old. It's very well written and extremely enjoyable and I had totally misjudged this film. It's a microbudget film shot entirely in Corner Brook, New Foundland using locals. I'd like to think that people who have a sense of humor and actually take it at face value will get enjoyment out of it but there are those people out there that will watch it and over think it and then say it's just bad and it'll be because they just don't get it. Horror, no... not at all. Gory, no... not at all. But if you're looking for a fun, quirky film to make you giggle, this is definitely it. Visit The Tentacle's Claw website and Facebook page for more information.

Lake Placid: The Final Chapter 2012 - REVIEW

If you've been following along, you should already know that I am a Syfy junkie. If left to my own devices, I will veg out on Syfy for an entire weekend. Yes, they're cheesy and corny and sometimes not all that great but you HAVE to admit that they are, more often than not, FUN.

Touted as the fourth and final entry into the Lake Placid franchise, The Final Chapter picks up where 3 left off with Reba (Yancy Butler) injured but still alive in a grocery store. After the credits roll, the action picks up pretty quick and introduces us to a whole new cast (save for Butler) including Elisabeth Rohm as Sheriff Theresa Giove and an engineer from the Army Corp of Engineers who apparently came to town with his son Max (Benedict Smith) to install a massive electrified fence around the entire lake. It's about TIME! They hint early on that they've populated the woods with other wildlife to make sure these extremely rare crocs have plenty to snack on BUT... throw in a scientist greedy for more information, a poacher (Robert Englund) and his crew and a bus load of teenagers and it's not long before the crocs are blessed with an all you can eat biped buffet.

Robert Englund graces the screen as the latest Bickerman, a name that has become synonymous in the Lake Placid films. It seems he's a distant cousin who's not too thrilled about being left out of the "family fortune" and decides to get it the hard way. Let's face it, no matter what Englund does he always does it 100% and there's no exception here. He brings the creepy and the funny and definitely helps make the film more fun with his one liner deliveries. I don't care what anyone says, I freaking love Yancy Butler. I know that she's had her battles with addiction but she seems to be on the mend. At least it looks that way in this film. I found myself laughing out loud at some of her line delivery. She's gorgeous and she's a great actress. Mock me if you will, I don't care. Together, she and Englund completely steal the show from lead Elisabeth Rohm. And speaking of Rohm, I've never been a huge fan of hers. I've watched her in Angel and Law and Order and she always came off as wooden to me with very little facial expression BUT she proved me wrong in this one. Her performance here was pretty solid throughout and she managed to hold her own.

So, is this installment as cheesy as other Syfy originals? Yes and no. Sorry, that's the best answer I can give you! To me, they all have a certain amount of cheese but that's what makes them so enjoyable. In the realm of all things Syfy, it's one of the better originals. You get some pretty nice scenic shots and you guys will have a few tidbits of eye candy to look at as well. Not to mention, there's some pretty stellar acting. There's nothing really overly original about it but I'd suspect if you've found your way to this channel, originality is not something you're looking for to begin with and if you're a fan like me, you'll definitely enjoy this one.

Lake Placid: The Final Chapter premieres on Syfy September 29 at 9/8C.

It's a Wrap for Deadly Revisions

The independent feature DEADLY REVISIONS—a twisted tale of terror from PIX/SEE Productions—has completed principal photography.

In DEADLY REVISIONS an amnesiac horror film writer (Bill Oberst Jr.) finds hypnotherapy and nightmares reveal memories that might or might not be real…and that might or might not be deadly. The film’s twisted blend of mystery, psychological thriller and horror is tasty fodder for fans of numerous genres.

“Filming was an amazing experience,” says writer/director Gregory Blair. “The amount of creativity among the cast and crew led to all kinds of surprises and discoveries…all of which are really going to be fun for folks to see in the finished product.”

But each phase of the project has been blessed with success: the screenplay was first a finalist in a past Horror Screenplay Contest; then, the teaser trailer for the film was honored with a screening at the New Media Film Festival earlier this year, thanks in part to the team at FilmBreak.com.

And the cachet doesn’t end there. The cast is led by international sensation Bill Oberst Jr. who was crowned “King of Horror” earlier this year by Erebus Horror and is also the human monster of the recently Emmy Award winning “Take This Lollipop”. Oberst is very familiar with playing monsters and bad guys; with his role as the haunted writer Grafton Torn, Bill gets to play both sides of the fence because he may be a monster and may be a victim. The audience has to try to figure it out.

The film now heads into post-production. During this time, fans can keep posted via the official DEADLY REVISIONS website, Facebook and Twitter. And, if that isn’t enough, fans can claim their own piece of the action: for a few bucks, folks can get their name associated with the film on the official website or on IMDB; they can actually be a producer, get a piece of movie swag—even get invited to the premiere! The DEADLY REVISIONS website is set up to make that happen.

“So join us and be an accessory,” Blair quips. “It’s an opportunity to die for!"

DEADLY REVISIONS is set for a 2013 release. For updates, visit:

Screaming In High Heels 2012 - REVIEW

When you mention the term "Scream Queen" there are a number of women who come to mind.  In the 1980's there were three in particular that was stealing the screen and recognition in Horror movies.  They were Brinke Stevens, Michelle Bauer, and Linnea Quigley.  Some movies they were in together, others maybe just 2 of them, but one thing is for sure.  Horror movies in the 80's would not have been the same without these 3 women.  Wouldn't it be great if they made a documentary movie featuring just these 3 women?  Wait no more!  Screaming In High Heels is here to tell the story of the 3 most recognized scream queens of the 1980's and early 90's.

Screaming in High Heels is jammed packed with interviews from people in the industry as well as the review of the film careers of Brinke, Michelle, and Linnea.  From the start of their career to the scream queens in their heyday when they were the most requested actresses in the business.  One of the main reasons is that they were willing to do nude scenes and they could actually act too.  Clips from all of their movies are all throughout the documentary showing the audience just how many movies they were in and how important to the era that they really were.  Some of the interviews that are featured are with Fred Olen Ray, David DeCoteau and a Slumber Party Massacre fan named Jarrod Clayton Cox.  Highlighting an era were women ruled the screen and everyone couldn't get enough of slasher movies and nude screaming women.

I heard about this movie a while back and could not wait for it to come out and I was not disappointed.  The interviews were very well done.  Talking with some of the great directors in the business at the time when these girls were tearing up the big screen and great clips from some awesome movies such as: Slumber Party Massacre starring Brinke Stevens (for about 10 minutes or so anyway) Sorority Babes in the Slimeball O Rama starring Brinke and Linnea, and also Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers starring Linnea and Michelle.  The whole documentary itself was directed very well and did a great job paying tribute to these 3 beautiful women and the Horror genre in general.

I have been watching Horror movies since before I lost my first tooth and I have seen probably every movie in the IMDB profiles for each lady here.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching these women tell the story of their careers, how they go in the business and how much they enjoyed making the movies we all love.  I am a big fan of Horror movie documentaries ever since I watched Never Sleep again.  It really is great to hear all the stories behind the scenes and all the hidden things in the business that you don't know about unless you were there.  Although these women are all past their heyday and honestly looking a little rough (especially Linnea) it is still awesome to hear them talk so passionately about what they loved to do.  If anyone has read Crystal Lake Memories, a fantastic book by the way, alot of the actresses that were in those movies especially the early ones did not think too much of the movies or even the genre.  It was just a paycheck, something to put on their resume to get the bigger role they were holding out for.  It's really good to hear from people who love the genre and everything about what they do.  This is a definite must see for any Slasher fan or just a Horror fan in general.

Asunder 2012 - REVIEW

Marriage can be a fickle beast.  Sometimes it's good, others it's bad and you wish you never would have said the words "I do".  Your life becomes revolved around the fact that you would rather be anywhere but at home because it's just way too depressing.  On the other hand your life may not be as bad a you really make it out to be.

Josh (Lewis Harris II) is on his way out for the night and his wife Melanie (Lou Cifer) is not very happy about it. Nagging at him for always going out and not staying at home with her. Josh explains that he goes out every Monday evening with his friends. He invites her to come along but she replies with "I don't like your friends!" He leaves and meets up with his friends at the bar. When Josh is at the bar ordering drinks a very beautiful woman catches his eye on the dance floor. He has made the decision to go and talk to her and ask her to dance. He has no idea what he is in for!

The production of the movie was is very good.  The really 2 gripes I have is the techno music and there is a scene were the music drowns out the sound.  Because of that I would have to rate the sound overall not great.  The acting while not spectacular was not too bad.  The character of Melanie was especially played well.  She reminded me of my ex wife, so I really didn't like her very much.  But she plays the part of a nagging bitch to perfection.  I hated her inside of 30 seconds.  The effects in this movie were especially good.  There are a few scenes toward the end in particular.  I am not going to describe them in fear that I will give too much away.  When you watch it you will know what I am talking about.

Overall I enjoyed watching this short.  It lasts about 10 minutes which is plenty of time to get the point across.  There are some shorts out there that lack a good story and the delivery of that story.  I think the director did a good job with the delivery.  This film does have a very creepy, dark and almost devilish feel to it.  Temptation is a powerful thing especially when a woman is the one doing the tempting.  Stay twisted everyone!

I Am Nancy 2011 - REVIEW

Recovering from the Horrorhound Convention I just attended with the one and only Gore Whore, I decided to sit back and watch the documentary I purchased from Heather Lagenkamp's table.  Finally meeting Heather was a great moment of the weekend for me.  Since I purchased I am Nancy on Friday evening I have been biting at the bit to watch it.  Horror fans and more specifically fans of the Nightmare series strap in for this one!

We start in a tattoo parlor with a man who is getting his Freddy tattoo filled in and added to it with Heather Lagenkamp  observing and talking to him about the process of deciding on the tattoo and his passion for the Nightmare on Elm Street series.  What about getting a tattoo of Nancy?  This is just were it starts.  From here the camera is following Heather around to conventions around the world with her signing autographs and also interviewing the fans.  While she sees at the conventions Robert England gets more attention and promotion than she does, she is determined to find Nancy memorabilia.  There is a segment with Heather and Robert talking about the series and Nancy, and also Heather talking to Wes Craven on his take on the character Nancy.  All through the autobiographical documentary there are also clips from the movies themselves depicting Nancy's strong will and her fights with Freddy.

I Am Nancy was very well put together from the clips that are shown from the movies to the interviews with the fans from around the world.  Heather is so terrific in this with the fans and very friendly and approachable.  There are a ton of merchandise and promotions for Freddy, but this is all about Nancy.  What a great job to spotlight one of the most notable and strongest "final girl" in Horror movie history.  I can't emphasize enough how well the segments in this film were put together.  From the sound to the high quality of it as well.  Heather's commentary is outstanding and after all she did play Nancy and knows the character the best.

I really enjoyed this film death.  I did not want it to end, it could have been 2 hours longer and I still would have been in the same spot with my eyes glued to the television.  I have always been a HUGE Nancy fan.  Not only is she a fantastic final girl she is so much stronger and fearless than the rest and puts herself in the situation to destroy her night stalker not waiting for him to come to her.  The character of Nancy really can be an inspiration for us all.  I never thought of it like that before but after seeing this it all makes so much sense.  Now when i see someone or even Heather tell somebody to "be Nancy", I will know exactly what that means.  It is something that everyone can relate to.  I am very glad to have the opportunity to purchase this film and view it.  I have been a fan of the Nightmare series since I saw Part 3 (yes, I saw them out of order) when I was 7 years old.  Nancy was always my favorite character in the series.  I highly recommend this movie especially for Nightmare fans.  Stay twisted everyone, and Be Nancy!
